From leaves to dollars: Understanding gutter cleaning costs

Updated: Jun 14

When it comes to planning the weekly budget, gutter cleaning costs aren’t normally a topic of conversation that is brought up. Yet, it is one of those essential home maintenance tasks that if overlooked can leave quite the dent on your hip pocket if left unnoticed. In this blog post, let us explain to the costs of getting your gutters clean, the costs of leaving them unnoticed and the possible risks that can bring to your home and family.

The Price Tag

The price to getting your gutters clean can range from business to business, the size of your home and the number of stories your property has for example:

On average our prices can range from:

  1. Small job (3-4 bedrooms): Expect to pay around $250 inc GST.

  2. Medium job (4+ bedrooms with verandas and/or shed): $300 inc GST.

  3. Large job (4+ bedrooms with verandas, sheds, carport etc): $350 inc GST.

  4. Anything larger can be quote upon submission. Such as two-story homes, commercial businesses, industrial buildings etc.

Why Is Gutter Cleaning Important?

Firstly, clogged gutters prevent rainwater from flowing away properly, leading to water pooling in the wrong places or even seeping into your home. Secondly, regular gutter cleaning protects your home from potential damage caused by overflowing gutters. Lastly, keeping gutters clean reduces the number of unwanted visitors on your property, such as flies, mosquitoes, and other pests.

How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters?

The frequency of gutter cleaning depends on where you live and the surrounding trees. If you have trees around your house, clean your gutters twice a year. Even without trees, aim for at least once a year to prevent debris buildup.

Signs Your Gutters Need Attention

So, how do you know when it’s time to clean your gutters? Keep an eye out for signs like overflowing gutters, sagging or misaligned gutters, damp or stained walls, and unwanted guests such as birds, plants, or small animals in your gutters.

DIY vs. Professional Service

While DIY gutter cleaning might seem tempting, it’s not always a good idea. Professionals have the right tools, safety gear, and expertise to do the job efficiently. Plus, they’ll spot potential issues before they escalate. Remember, investing in regular gutter cleaning now can save you significant costs down the line. So, don’t let those gutters go unnoticed—give them the attention they deserve today!
